New Adventures...in crafting

I have been wanting to start a crafting blog, mostly to be based on knitting because, as of late, I have been knitting quite a bit more.  I have even branched out into test knitting items for pattern designers.  In 2015 I also attended multiple knitting retreats, my favorite of which was in Vermont with a leading knitter in stranded knitting.  I feel that I could blog about what the retreats were like and why people should attend them.  This year funds are slightly limited as we are getting debts under control with a debt management program therefore I have to give more thought and care to which retreats I plan to go to.  I am attending a retreat about 30 minutes from my home in late February  I also recently learned about retreats in Alaska and Massachusetts. How difficult is that to have to decide which one I want to spend my time and hard earned money on?  That is something that I will be discussing with my better half, which one to go to.  I also refreshed myself on my crochet techniques at a local class yesterday.  It had been quite a while since I initially learned how to crochet so, when the local teacher offered the class I jumped at the chance.  I was at the beginner table, but was so totally bored I hope that the instructor did not read the look on my face.  I came home and searched for videos from one of my favorite knitting video gurus and found out that the teacher did not even give the correct instructions for the techniques that we learned.  Next time I may save my money and go out to the internet and search.  Anyway, I have started on my crocheted scarf and am making excellent progress.  Photo to follow at a later date. Have a great day and happy crafting!

Blessings

As I sit here on Christmas Eve with my family and pets, I am reminded of how truly thankful I am for all of the blessings that I have.  May everyone enjoy their time spent with family and friends this holiday season. Glory be to God!

Black Friday

I understand the concept behind Black Friday however, is any toy or present that is on sale worth getting hurt for?  My husband told me this morning about someone he saw a story about on tv who was hurt while shopping early on Black Friday.  I understand that, with the economy the way it is people like deals...I like them too, but please, please, please, be nice to others today.  Happy and safe shopping to all!

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Mother Nature is a fickle woman.  First she makes it snow, then warm, then rain...all in the same week.  I don't know about where you live, but here in Central IL it has been raining all day today, Dec. 11, 2010.  The weather to me seems to be more mixed up than ever.  Yesterday we posted a temperature of 46 degrees...which is more fall like than winter.  No wonder the flowers and birds are mixed up.  They don't know whether to come or to go.  Tomorrow we have a blizzard warning and are expecting 2-3 inches of snow and white out conditions.  No wonder people are constantly getting sick.  There are three sick people just in my department at work.  Can it be spring...please???!!!  Some day I would love to move someplace warm...no more ice and snow for me.   What is the weather like where you are?  Just curious.
